The Chinese Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional holiday that celebrates the life and death of the famous Chinese scholar Qu Yuan (Chu Yuan). In Hong Kong, this auspicious occasion is marked by eating tamales or Zongzi and, of course, racing dragon boats.
Hill Dickinson Hong Kong was proud to sponsor the Lamma 500 International Dragon Boat Festival for a 12th consecutive year together with fellow lead sponsors including KPMG and Hong Kong Electric. The event took place on Lamma Island (Hong Kong) on Sunday 13 May 2018.
Office principal Damien Laracy, partner Bryan O’Hare and senior associate Mitchell Birks, along with their families, were on hand at the festival to show their support and present awards to the competition winners, as well as distribute 150 complimentary Hill Dickinson baseball caps (which were well received in the baking 36 degrees heat!).
The Lamma 500 International Dragon Boat Festival is one of Asia’s best dragon boat events with over 5000 attendees and 73 teams forming a diverse representation from the local business community including global corporates, banks, funds and accountants (Blackrock, HSBC, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, BNP Paribas and KPMG), as well as participants from all over the world. The spirit of their passion, determination and team work echoes the firm’s own corporate values.
